Kemmerer, WY
Bechtel is looking for union craft professionals for the Natrium nuclear plant in Kemmerer, Wyoming — a first-of-its-kind project that will change the future of American energy.

This Is the Build of a Lifetime. Get on the List.
The Natrium reactor is a 345 MWe sodium-cooled fast reactor paired with a molten salt-based energy storage system that can boost output to 500 MWe — enough to power approximately 400,000 homes. When complete, it will be the first utility-scale advanced nuclear power plant in the United States.
Set against the backdrop of a retiring coal plant, Natrium is also the only coal-to-nuclear project under development in the world — replacing fossil energy with reliable, carbon-free power on the same site.
This isn't a concept. Construction is underway. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission unanimously voted to issue the construction permit in March 2026 — the first advanced commercial reactor approval in over a decade. Bechtel is the EPC partner, and the project is backed by the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program.
Approximately 2,000 union craft workers across 18 trades will be needed as the project ramps to peak construction. The build is expected to span five years, with the plant targeting completion in 2030.

Why Natrium Is Different
Once in a Career This is a unique project. There's no other project like it. The work you do here will be studied and referenced for decades.
Long-Duration Work With Long-Term Potential Construction spans five years. This isn't a 6-week shutdown — it's a multi-year deployment with steady, sustained work. And when the plant goes operational, it will support approximately 250 permanent positions, creating potential pathways from construction into long-term energy careers.
Safety and Wellbeing Come First Bechtel's safety record is among the best in the industry, and it's non-negotiable on every jobsite. On the Natrium project, worker safety and wellbeing aren't just a policy — they're the foundation everything else is built on.
Training and Career Advancement BCC invests in its craft workforce through training partnerships with local unions and on-site upskilling opportunities. Whether you're a journeyman sharpening your skills on cutting-edge nuclear construction or an apprentice building hours toward your card, this project delivers.
Backed by the Best Bechtel has built more nuclear power plants than any company in the world. TerraPower — founded by Bill Gates — is pioneering the reactor technology. GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy designed the reactor. The U.S. Department of Energy is co-funding the project. This is as solid as it gets.
