Bechtel Is Hiring Union Craft Professionals for the Thacker Pass Lithium Project in Nevada.
Thacker Pass is the largest measured lithium reserve in the world — right here in northern Nevada. When Phase 1 is complete, this single project will produce more than eight times the current U.S. output of lithium carbonate, all mined and processed on site. Enough to supply batteries for up to 800,000 electric vehicles a year.
This is a $2.9 billion greenfield build backed by General Motors and a $2.26 billion U.S. Department of Energy loan. Bechtel is the construction management contractor — managing a 642-acre plant complex with 600,000 square feet of buildings, roads, utilities, and infrastructure. Construction is underway now, with approximately 1,000 workers on site and the project on track for completion by end of 2027.
Bechtel has been building in Nevada for nearly a century, going back to the Hoover Dam. At Thacker Pass, they're working under a Project Labor Agreement with NABTU to deliver a safe, welcoming, harassment- and intimidation-free worksite. That's not a talking point — it's a contractual commitment.
Bechtel is hiring union craft professionals and apprentices across 14 trades to finish the job.

We're accepting expressions of interest for the following roles
What You Get When You Work at Thacker Pass.
Union Wages and Benefits. All craft positions are dispatched through the appropriate local union. Wages and benefits are paid per the local union collective agreement for your specific trade. This is full union scale — negotiated and protected by your Building Trades agreement.
Overtime and Shift Premiums. The project offers approved overtime and shift differential for the second shift. Details are determined by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
No State Income Tax. Nevada has no state income tax. Every dollar you earn on this project goes further than it would in most other states. For traveling craft workers, that's a meaningful difference in take-home pay.
Free Housing at the Workforce Hub. Bechtel provides accommodations for non-local workers at a dedicated, self-contained Workforce Hub in Winnemucca, Nevada. This isn't a thrown-together man camp — it's a purpose-built complex with real amenities. Accommodations include a private room with your own window, climate control, TV, and private bathroom. Access is badge-only, for Thacker Pass project employees.
Three Meals a Day Included. Workforce Hub residents receive three complimentary meals per day, freshly prepared in restaurant-quality kitchens. Options include a buffet with daily entrees or chicken, fish, or steak plate service. There's also a salad bar with fresh fruit and a 24-hour grab-and-go area for shift workers.
Laundry, Fitness, and Transportation. The Workforce Hub also provides complimentary laundry and cleaning services, a fully equipped fitness center, and coach bus transportation to and from the worksite. You show up, you work, and everything else is taken care of.
Apprenticeship Programs. Thacker Pass offers earn-while-you-learn apprenticeship opportunities through the Building Trades. Paid apprenticeship programs include rigorous academics and advanced training for industry-recognized credentials in more than ten construction fields. And the credentials are portable — after your training, you can take them anywhere, including overseas.
Safety Is the Standard. Bechtel's commitment to safety is non-negotiable. The Thacker Pass worksite operates under a zero-tolerance approach to safety, with Bechtel and NABTU partnering to provide a worksite that prioritizes worker safety and wellbeing above everything else.
